We Need Volunteer Instructors!

Due to the popularity of the Russell Run Club’s Youth Running and Run Jump Throw Program, we’re looking for Assistant Instructors!

We are looking for individuals not only with running & athletic experience but also those who can foster a positive, inclusive and encouraging environment, motivating young athletes to enjoy and improve in the sport.

This is a great chance to gain coaching experience and contribute to the community. Whether you’re building skills or love working with kids, this role is for you!

High school students are more than welcome. This can go to your volunteer hours.

Interested? Email michelle@russellrunclub.ca for more information.

A Successful Living Locally Fair

The Russell Run Club attended the Living Locally Fair on Saturday, January 18th. An impressive group of fair volunteers put together a great event that brought a steady stream of people to the club's booth to inquire about the club and its programs. The snowshoes and the rubber chickens piqued the curiosity of attendees of all ages. The club came away with new program registrants and lots of potential for new members.

We also had meaningful conversations with individuals identifying as "non-runners," "former runners," and walkers. They shared their reasons, challenges, and aspirations for staying active or starting their fitness journey. These discussions provided valuable insights that will help us make the club more inclusive and accessible to everyone.

New York Central Fitness Trail parkrun

It was a quiet Saturday morning at New York Central Fitness parkrun No. 139. The volunteers outnumbered the runners, but it just goes to show how much they care about making this event happen

Parkrun is a free timed 5km run, walk or jog every Saturday at 9:00 AM.  To register, go to https://www.parkrun.ca/register/. You only have to do it once. Remember to bring your barcode or take a screenshot of it on your phone.

Sarah Ignites that Night on Snowshoes

Sarah Poirier took on the challenge of the Dion Ignite the Night Snowshoe race on Saturday, January 11 at Upper Canada Village. She finished the 5km event in 40:07.

Happy 75th Maurice!

It's not every day that we get to wish one of our members a happy 75th birthday. Maurice chose to celebrate his big day doing one of his favourite activities, skating the Rideau Canal, proving once again that age is just a number.
