Despite spring being a little shy to show up this year, our runners are tough and are coming out in record numbers!

This week we had lots to celebrate:

  • our first members meeting

  • a growing membership and attendance at our group runs

  • opening registration for our next round of clinics

  • runners overcoming injury, reaching new milestones and supporting each other through running and personal challenges

Another big group at our Tuesday night run.

Club News

First Members Meeting

On Friday night, we held our first official meeting as a not-for-profit club!

While we took care of official business like adopting club by-laws and approving our first board of directors, we also had the pleasure of walking down memory lane as Coach Michelle shared just how far the club as come in a few short years.

Best of all it was an opportunity to gather (and see what each other looks like when we're not dressed for running), share ideas, celebrate and enjoy each other's company.

Oh and did we mention there was free pizza, veggies, brownies, candy and Gatorade? Free food and all the running talk you could handle. What more could a runner want?

The board will be meeting in the coming weeks to formalize roles and responsibilities. Be sure to watch our newsletter and social media for updates!

In the meantime, if you have ideas for the club, don't hesitate to send us an email info@russellrunclub.ca

Summer and Fall Clinics Now Open for Registration

We have clinics starting very soon for distances ranging from Learn/Return to Run all the way to Marathon distance. If you have summer or fall running aspirations, now is the time to register for one of our clinics and get the support you need to accomplish your goals.

Click the button below to find out more about each offering and get yourself registered.

Cornwall Training Run

Are you training for one of the St. Lawrence events this spring? Would you like to run some of the course? The club will be taking a road trip to Cornwall on Sunday, April 13, 2025 to run a segment of the course.

We are still planning the route and schedule. If you are interested, contact Coach Michelle michelle@russellrunclub.ca

New York Central Fitness Trail parkrun

It's good to be back! Despite the wild weather, we had just enough melt to safely run parkrun no. 142.

While the runners stayed warm running it was coffee and huddling for the volunteers.

Parkrun is a free timed 5km run, walk or jog every Saturday at 9:00 AM.  To register, go to https://www.parkrun.ca/register/. You only have to do it once. Remember to bring your barcode or screenshot it on your phone.

What Was the Russell Run Club Up to This Week?

Russell Run Club at DLRC Market

Russell Run Club had a booth at the DLRC Market in Embrun on Saturday. From 10 to 3pm we chatted with attendees of all ages about the club and what it offers. There was definitely some interest and we hope to see some new faces joining us in the coming weeks.

Weekly Check-in

Despite all the rain, our group runs are growing and members are putting in some serious miles!

Here is what our members were up to this week:

"Went for a 15k long run yesterday on the cycling path, slowly starting outside again."

Pascal D.

"I missed the Sunday group run and got caught in th wind an drain here during my local one. Serves me right... I should have rolled out of bed earlier. Morning runs are the best"

Clair S.

"Got back on track today and felt fantastic; looking forward to Tuesday"

Cathleen B.

"Hit 21k for the first time in a while and feeling good after the injuries!"

Norm S.

"Great Sunday morning group turnout today with 11 outdoors at Euphie d'ici and 3 more at the dome. Finally had the pleasure of chatting with some of the new members to the club."

Tammy W.

"I had a good week of training. On a more personal level, we had a water leak at home and I want to say thank you to Tara and her husband, Mike as they were a big help. I also want to thank Mélisandre and Yves for lending us your dehumidifier. This is what community is about. I truly love being part of this group."

Julie H.
