"Just showing up" is the theme for this week. And we did that. We were getting the work done all over this region. From Winchester to Wakefield, Frontenac Park to L'Orignal. Of course, along our New York Central Fitness Trail. We even have a story of how "just showing up" to a group run changed someone's life for the better.

Swapping the Track for a Hill
We changed it up on Thursday. One of the complaints we hear about the Army Run is the hills mid-way through. So our 1/2 marathon runner loaded up into Tara's van and hit toboggan hill in Winchester.
The workout was challenging: running up and down the hill for 15 to 20 minutes. The heat and humidity made it even more of a slog. But Coach Michelle reminded them that it was a strength workout (also speed work in disguise). The group managed to get the hang of changing the gait to power up the hills and coast down them without going into a log roll.
In the end, the group enjoyed the workout and are ready to do it again next Thursday.
