So, spring didn’t quite spring. Instead, we got:

  • snow

  • freezing rain

  • a touch of wind for dramatic effect

…all within 48 hours — like Mother Nature hit shuffle on the seasons. And now, plot twist:

sudden warm temps tomorrow, because why not?

The glimpses of spring are attracting more people and new faces at our group runs.

New York Central Fitness Trail parkrun

Well we thought spring was here but apparently it was just a sneak preview. The wintery conditions on Saturday made for unsafe trail conditions forcing another parkrun cancellation. But the warm weather can't stay away forever, right? Let's hope for better conditions next week.

Parkrun is a free timed 5km run, walk or jog every Saturday at 9:00 AM.  To register, go to https://www.parkrun.ca/register/. You only have to do it once. Remember to bring your barcode or screenshot it on your phone.

What Was the Russell Run Club Up to This Week?

How did your week of running go?

  • Did you power through the chaos like a trail-hardened legend?

  • Or did you, like our friend in the photo, assume the fetal position and question your life choices mid-run?

  • Was it Yaktrax weather, puddle-jumping fun, or a passionate affair with your treadmill?

Here is what happened in the world of running with the Russell Run Club:

"I'm really glad I did my long run ahead of time on Thursday. Saturday's run in the dome was a nice run, and Dave ran outside in the mild snowy cushion. I am not into ice dashing, so will stay inside today and bake bread. Next week please be kinder!"

Clair S.

"On this day last year Tammy & I were making our way through the streets of Hamilton for the Around The Bay road race. 35K later we finally made it to the finish line to receive a medal that said 30k! What!!!!! LOL

I wore my “Around the Bay” race shirt today to commemorate this day last year on my 16K treadmill run this morning!

FU Ice Storm!

Has anyone seen Spring???? I think it’s lost!"

Crystal M.

"Great intentions of running outside on Saturday morning were dashed by icy, snowy sidewalks and roads. With the forecast not looking any better for Sunday, my long run was completed on the track in the dome instead. Many thanks to Tara for joining me. I never would have survived otherwise!"

Tammy W.
