Join us at the Russell Historical Society's Heritage Day

The Russell Run Club was invited to prepare a display for this year's Heritage Day, which is held by the Russell Historical Society. Inspired by the Olympics, the focus is on Sports Heritage. We will be at the Keith M. Boyd Museum on September 14th from 10:00 to 11:00 AM, along with individuals who specialize in the sport's history locally.

Be sure to say hello to our run club representatives that will be flying the Russell Run Club flag. For more information, visit the museum's website: https://www.russellmuseum.ca/programs-events/

New Medals for the Kid's Run at this Year's Russell Run

Wouldn't you like to see your child get one of these medals to celebrate their hard work training for the 1.2 km Kid's Run?

Thanks to the generosity of club member Paul Lalonde, the Kids Run at the annual Russell Run will offer these awesome hand-made wooden medals. To ensure your child goes home with a one-of-a-kind medal, get them registered for the 1.2km Kid's Run on October 19th, 2024.

Prescott-Russell Recreational Trail Relay UPDATE

Creating a new event can be fun, exciting, and challenging. So let's keep the community updated about what's going on as we organize what we hope will be an epic event.

We opened our email the week to find two teams officially registered for our event. We have the "Dream Team" (aka our Casselman Contingent) and "Always Runs in Pears" (a family team). We also have another group of 8 from our club participating. We know plans are brewing, and we can't wait to see what they have in store. We have another potential team joining us. And we just got the word out last week!

We even had a runner approach us to run it solo. Does running solo interest you? Please reach out to the Race Director - Michelle (michelle@russellrunclub.ca)

Or perhaps you want to participate but need more people to form a team. If so, email us at info@russellrunclub.ca.

While we can confirm the weather that day, we can confirm we will be toeing the start line in St. Eugene on November 2, 2024.

Don't miss this unique event. Gather your team of 2 to 11 people to cover the 72km distance. With legs varying from 4 to 12km, any runner can find a segment or two (or more) that they feel comfortable with.

New York Central Fitness Trail parkrun

It might have been a little wet, but that didn't stop our New York Central Fitness Trail parkrun regulars from attending our 125th parkrun.

Parkrun is a free timed 5km run, walk or jog every Saturday morning at 9:00 AM. To register, go to https://www.parkrun.ca/register/. You only have to do it once. Remember to bring your barcode or take a snapshot of it on your phone.

What was the Russell Run Club Up To This Week?

Every week, we call out our members to share their runs, training, and races. We love to celebrate achievements of all sorts and be a sounding board when things go wrong.

To inspire and motivate you - this is what happened this week:

Sebastien G:

Just came back from a 10 km with à wind of 30 kh in my face. 1:10 min. Really proud of the time

Crystal M:

I had a run this week where “the wheels fell off”. Since that type of run doesn’t happen very often, I chalked it up as a one off and sat on the curb when I felt I couldn’t go any further. I took an inventory of my situation and tried to take some positives from it. For instance, it was a beautiful sunny day and the sun felt amazing on my face. After pulling it together, I ended up walking 2km home after taking this picture. It happens! Rest, reload and keeping going next time! Tomorrow is another day.
